Sarasota County Schools opens fall School Choice window for 2027–28
Families can apply through Nov. 23 for up to three school choices; placements are by lottery and a second window opens in February.
Sarasota County Schools has opened its fall School Choice window for the 2027–28 school year, giving families a first chance to apply for a district-managed Sarasota County school outside their zoned assignment. This is the first year the district says families will get two application opportunities for next year, with choices limited by capacity and awarded through a lottery process.

Second application window
How the process works
Applications must go through the Focus Parent Portal, and families can list up to three schools. The district says placements are made by random lottery, not on a first-come, first-served basis, and applying does not guarantee a seat.
